NASA's next moon mission may be in doubt when the new government takes over the White House in Jan 2009. Seems from the news that the transition team who is taking care of the NASA's work is having hard time in negotiating with NASA's administrator Mr.Michael Griffin.
But NASA is going ahead with full steam with its Moon program and hope of having the astronauts in Earth orbit by 2015 and on Moon by 2020. But because of some delays the program schedules got delayed and the budget got increased.
The problem with the transition team arised when Garver (Selected for NASA transition) insisted to scrap the ARES 1, instead wanted to have the ATLAS V and the DELTA IV boosters modified to carry humans into space.
